100 Seconds to Midnight

The Doomsday Clock announcement came out late January, and we’ve now moved from 2 minutes to midnight as a global community to 100 seconds. The number of seconds lost is directly proportional to the intensity of the existential dangers we face, most specifically directed towards climate change and nuclear war. Reading the statement, you’ll see that the danger is not just about the likelihood of them happening but also about how the political infrastructure to manage them has eroded. We, being the international community, continue to violate arms control agreements and resist significant political response to climate change. Technology can exacerbate these problems. This is the only clock we can control, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on things that can be done to turn back the time. ⠀
