Sara & Miguel were one of my very first customers when I started photographing couples. They trusted me with one of the most special days of the beginning of their relationship and then called me back, years later, to photograph their wedding. I couldn’t have been more honored or happy!
I don’t normally share a lot of personal details about my customers because, well, they’re personal and in this day-and-age, privacy matters. This wedding is a slight exception. Sara was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer at the beginning of their relationship. She had tried to cut the relationship off with Miguel, knowing that it was useless to get attached to anyone, but he wouldn’t hear it. He stayed by her side, and she pulled through, healthier and happier than ever. (By the way, this story was repeated at their wedding and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house… including behind my camera.) Her gorgeous Ann Barge dress was donated by the Make a Wish Foundation and it couldn’t be more perfect on her. She said when she saw it at the bridal boutique she actually gasped, and I did too. It was the perfect dress for the perfect bride and couple.
They had their first date at the Menil Collection on a bench. We hiked on over after the ceremony and photographed all of their couples portraits there to commemorate where it all began. The reception followed high above Houston at the Houston Petroleum Club downtown.
I’d like to take a second to shout out to the wonderful vendors I worked with at this wedding! They all really made the day perfect and the whole world should know it!
